Chris has received some horrible, gut-wrenching news: a metastatic cancer diagnosis. But throughout his gruelling treatment, Chris’ love of cricket has remained as strong as ever! So, when Dreams2Live4 offered to make his dream come true, there was no hesitation in what he would choose. His dream was to meet his heroes – the Australian and English cricket teams and watch them in action!
Cricket Australia gave Chris an experience he will never forget. He went onto the field while both teams were warming up. The players generously gave some time to shake his hand and talk tactics for the day’s play. Cricket Australia even gave him the warm up ball, signed by the English captain! When Channel 9 heard about Chris dream, they simply had to get on board. They kindly and generously provided tickets to the 2017/18 Ashes Test Series and organised for Chris to be taken up to the commentary box to meet some very special people…
Chris couldn’t wipe the smile off his face the entire day. He said it was an absolutely brilliant experience: everything he had dreamed it to be. He was amazed at all the past and present cricketers he was able to meet and speak to… including none other than Michael Clarke and Shane Warne! Originally from England, Chris even ran into two old players by chance: Phil Tufnell and Michael Vaughan, an ex-English captain. Talk about coincidence!
Chris’ best mate Elton got to join him on the day. In Chris’ wife’s words: “Elton is a very friendly chap was sure to grab any celebrity he saw and introduced him to Chris. They all seemed quite happy to have a good chat with him – he’s a real cricket buff so wasn’t short of a conversation about ‘whatever’. Once again, many thanks for an amazing dream achieved!”
