One day 2 years ago, our dreamer Nathan kissed his fiancé and baby goodbye and padded up to play a game of cricket. He left, not knowing it would be the last day before everything changed.
That day, the tumour in his brain caused a seizure on the field. He was rushed to the hospital for the CT scans that would confirm its presence- the beginning and end of everything. The later operation rendered the left side of his body paralysed.
Nathan has fought to regain his strength, and to get back to his family who need him as much as he does them. To this day he fights against the tumour that returned that December and has since metastasized. Even after losing so much of himself and the life he once led, he will always be the partner and father they love unconditionally.
After spending hours by his bedside at the hospital, Nathan dreams of giving his family the memories to carry with them. On the Gold Coast of Australia, they will be chasing Australian wildlife in the Australia Zoo and bringing joy back into their lives in its parks. Here, they will have the precious respite they need from the constant pressure of this disease- its treatments, side effects, uncertainties and fears. For a family that has lived their lives in the measured days cancer gives- enduring through everything to be together- it is a privilege to be able to grant them their dream.
