Dianna did not realise how sick she was until she ended up in hospital with a diagnosis of advanced metastatic cancer. With only weeks left to live, her only dream was to have the family photograph taken that she had never been able to afford.
Dianna was too ill to leave the hospital and time was running out. Finding a photographer who could make it to the hospital in time was a big call. And then our Angel put up her hand. A medical photographer working in the hospital heard Dianna’s story and she jumped into action.
That night, when the hospital foyer was deserted our medical photographer set up a studio and took the family photograph that Dianna had been yearning for. Then back in her office she worked her magic on the computer, painstakingly stripping away any evidence of Dianna’s gastric tubes and medical patches. The next day Dianna wept with joy when she saw the photographs. To see her 7 children and 7 grandchildren together – and the moment captured forever in a photograph – meant everything to her. In the last weeks of her life Dianna’s hospital room was filled with the images of her beloved family.
None of this would have been possible without this special Angel putting her hand up to help. Go to our volunteers page and read more about the amazing people who volunteer with Dreams2live4.
