This morning we opened an email which had us all reeling. While we wiped away our tears we took solace in the gratitude. Thank you to all our supporters for making dreams like Alison’s come true. Never underestimate what your kindness does in the world.
Not many words to say just now. I am Alison’s mother, Lindy.
You made Alison’s dream of a trip to Cairns come true and she was so very grateful.
She flew with husband Dale and sons Alex 9 and Ryan 5. She was not at all well but her determination to experience it all with her boys got her through.
It was a trip of many firsts for the boys, first aeroplane ride, first ever train ride (on the Kuranda Railway), first ride on Skyrail back to Cairns. Alison shared all these firsts with them. They visited the butterfly sanctuary at Kuranda, the Aquarium in Cairns, and had some great family times where Alison could relax while watching Dale and the boys in the pool at their accommodation.
As a bonus Alison and family was able to catch up with two cousins and their families who live in Cairns, she just loved it all.
Most grateful thanks from us all, Alison’s family and friends, for giving her what was her last adventure with her boys. Never underestimate what your efforts mean to people at a very difficult time. Thanks to your charity and it’s supporters.
Our beautiful Alison arrived back from Cairns on 04/12/17 and died just 2 weeks later on 18/12/17 aged 35 years, and just over 6 months from the date of diagnosis.
Here are some photos Alison had sent me from Cairns.
