“I first discovered Metallica in the very early 90’s, watching an episode of the popular music program Rage as a young lad. Their song entitled ‘Enter Sandman’ came on and instantly, I was hooked,” our dreamer, Glen, says.
After a devastating diagnosis of a Grade 4 Glioblastoma brain tumour in 2018, Glen was encouraged by his wife and partner of 14 years to think of his bucket list, where meeting Metallica remained at the very top.
“When my wife Jen and I tied the knot in 2012, she chose to walk down the aisle to their song ‘Nothing Else Matters’. The phrase has been engraved in our Wedding rings and is the motto for our relationship.”
“In the mosh pit of Metallica’s 2010 tour Jen even managed to grab the lead singer guitar pick that was thrown into the crowd and is now proudly displayed in my man cave.”
“We saw them again in 2013 for the Soundwave music festival in Brisbane and have only ever dreamt of meeting these legendary musicians in person,” Glen writes.
“Through the difficult times in my life, their music has helped me to cope.”
