David Gyngell

David Gyngell is an Australian businessman and former Chief Executive Officer of Nine Entertainment Co. Gyngell is widely credited with saving Nine from financial collapse in 2012 and bringing it back to the share market a year later.

Deep links to Nine date back to his father, Bruce Gyngell: the first man on Australian television. AdNews described him as the most “attuned and intuitively clever operator in the business…and usually the most entertaining, open about the need to take risks and doesn’t fear failure”

Overton has also held positions at 2UE, SKY and Channel 7 Adelaide. In January 2009, Overton was appointed presenter of Nine News Sydney. In this role, Overton has seen the hotly contested 6pm news service rise to number one in Sydney from 2011 to 2016. Overton possesses a strong sense of community and is an ambassador for many worthwhile causes in Australia.
