“When applying for this amazing opportunity I thought about all the wonderful dreams a man of my age would have and it came down to this – My dream is to show my little boy that there is a big beautiful world outside of cancer treatment, hospitals, waiting rooms and visiting his sick dad when he is not at home. And to show my wife how thankful I am to have her by my side.
My son was born one week before I began my first chemotherapy regime and it has been a long year and half of heavy treatments since then. A family holiday could give us quality time together, enjoying the natural beauty of our surroundings, not having to worry about our next appointment/treatment/follow up or even bad news. When I think of an ultimate holiday destination, the Great Barrier Reef comes to mind. I would love to show Angus the beauty of Australia and see the beautiful smile on my wife’s face.
When I think of my childhood, I remember fun holidays by the beach, playing in the sun with all of my family around. Laughter, smiles, and lots of love. I want Angus to be able to have these memories as well. Thank you for this opportunity and the hope you offer for people like me and my family.”
